The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has assured serving corps members that their monthly allowance will be increased in line with the new minimum wage, once civil servants start receiving it.

This announcement was made during his visit to the Kebbi State Orientation Camp in Dakingari and the Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko.

General Ahmed highlighted the invaluable contributions of corps members to the socio-economic development of Nigeria, emphasizing that their efforts are deeply appreciated. He encouraged them to use their service year as an opportunity for personal development and future planning.

Additionally, he advised the corps members to take full advantage of the NYSC’s skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development program, which is designed to equip them with vocational skills for self-reliance.

This development comes after the federal government and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) recently agreed on a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for civil servants.
