The Governor of Jigawa State has suspended a commissioner following allegations of adultery. According to Naija News, the suspension aims to allow a thorough investigation into claims brought forward by the Kano State Hisbah, the Islamic enforcement body. This was disclosed in a statement signed by Malam Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, on Saturday.

The Jigawa government emphasized that the suspension is necessary to ensure a comprehensive investigation, ensuring transparency and protecting the integrity of the state’s administration.

The suspended commissioner, Auwal Danladi Sankara, was arrested by Hisbah officers in an uncompleted building, allegedly in the company of a married woman. The Hisbah Board, responsible for enforcing Sharia law, made the arrest public after tracking Sankara’s movements based on intelligence reports.

Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Kano Hisbah Board, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Yes, we arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara in an uncompleted building with a married woman. We had been monitoring him after receiving several complaints.”

The allegations surfaced when Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, filed multiple complaints with various authorities, including the Kano State Police Command and the Department of State Services (DSS). Bulama accused Sankara of having an affair with his wife, who is the mother of their two children.

However, in a statement released on Friday night, Sankara denied all allegations. He described the accusations as baseless, false, and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
