In the early hours of Monday, August 26, 2024, gunmen attacked the Gadabuke community in the Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, resulting in the death of one person and the abduction of two others. The assailants targeted the residence of Agaba Yakubu, where they shot and killed Yakubu Garba, and took two individuals with them.
Ramhan Nansel, spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the attack in a statement on Tuesday, August 27. He noted that police have been dispatched to track down the perpetrators. Nansel explained that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Toto received an emergency call around 2 a.m. on August 25, which informed them of the assault at Yakubu’s home.
“The DPO promptly sent officers to the scene. They recovered the deceased’s body, which has been returned to his family for burial according to Islamic practices,” Nansel said.
The police spokesperson assured that efforts are ongoing to find and apprehend the gunmen. He also stated that officers are working to rescue the kidnapped victims and bring those responsible to justice.
