
A significant fire has engulfed the home of Bilyaminu Moriki, the Speaker of the Zamfara House of Assembly, in Gusau. This unfortunate event was confirmed on Sunday by Bello Madaro, the Chief Press Secretary for the Assembly, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
House Clerk Mahmud Aliyu described the situation as tragic, emphasizing that, while there were no casualties, the fire caused substantial property damage estimated in the millions of Naira.
Mr. Aliyu expressed his shock regarding the incident, stating, “The management of the Zamfara Assembly was taken aback by the fire that devastated the Speaker’s residence in Gusau.” He conveyed heartfelt condolences from both lawmakers and staff to the Speaker and his family during this trying period.
In his comments, Mr. Aliyu urged the Speaker and his family to view this incident as part of a greater divine plan. He expressed a wish that such unfortunate events would not occur in the future, adding, “On behalf of all staff members of the House, I extend my deepest sympathies for this distressing situation.”
