Omoyele Sowore, the leader of the #RevolutionNow Movement and a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has urgently called for the release of PidomNigeria, a well-known whistleblower and undercover journalist. PidomNigeria has reportedly gone missing and is believed to be in police custody.

Sowore voiced deep concern for PidomNigeria’s safety, cautioning that the whistleblower could be at risk of harm if immediate steps are not taken to ensure his release. He condemned the incident as an enforced disappearance, suggesting it was an abduction carried out by individuals connected to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In addition to demanding PidomNigeria’s release, Sowore also called for the freedom of #EndBadGovernance protesters who are allegedly being held illegally in various security facilities across the country.

On Friday, Sowore took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share his thoughts: “I woke up to the distressing news of the abduction and secret detention of whistleblower and undercover journalist @PIDOMNIGERIA by forces linked to the @officialABAT regime. Given the regime’s known tactics, @PIDOMNIGERIA may be in grave danger if urgent measures are not taken to secure his immediate release.”

He continued, “I therefore call on the Gestapo unit under the @officialABAT regime holding @PIDOMNIGERIA to release him or her immediately. This demand also extends to all #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters who are being held illegally across Nigeria.”

Earlier reports from SaharaReporters highlighted PidomNigeria’s role in exposing high-profile corruption and human rights abuses in Nigeria. The whistleblower went silent after August 15, 2024, sparking widespread concern. With a following of over 200,000 people, his absence has led to the trending #FreePidom campaign, urging for his release.

In a related development, investigative journalist David Hundeyin confirmed PidomNigeria’s disappearance, adding credibility to the growing fears about his safety. A document circulating on the X platform titled “Police Administrative Bail Condition,” dated August 15, 2024—the same day PidomNigeria vanished—alleges that Bristol Isaac, identified as @PIDOMNIGERIA, is being held by the Nigerian police on suspicion of computer-related fraud.
