The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially suspended its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN. This decision comes in the wake of escalating internal disputes that have beset the party since 2023.

The announcement, made in a statement by the party’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, follows Ologunagba and Ajibade’s recent calls for National Chairman Umar Damagum to adhere strictly to the party’s constitution in its daily functions.

This suspension, revealed early Friday, is part of an ongoing investigation into the issues raised against the two officials. A committee, led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, has been appointed to assess the concerns according to the party’s constitutional guidelines.

The PDP’s recent meeting on October 10, 2024, set the stage for these significant developments, highlighting the party’s struggles with internal governance and constitutional adherence.

The statement detailed, “In response, the NWC has constituted a committee chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South) H.E. Amb. Taofeek Arapaja to investigate the concerns against the officers in accordance with the Party’s Constitution.

“Following this decision, the NWC has directed their deputies to take over in an acting capacity effective from Friday, October 11, 2024, pending the investigation’s conclusion. The new acting officials are Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga as Acting National Publicity Secretary and Okechukwu Osuoha as Acting National Legal Adviser.”

The NWC has called on all leaders, stakeholders, and supporters of the party to remain focused and committed as it navigates the ongoing challenges in its operations for the benefit of the PDP’s future.
