In Abuja, a joint operation involving armed police and soldiers has been launched by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to break up peaceful protests demanding better governance. Demonstrators gathered in Utako, near Arab Junction, carrying placards calling for reductions in fuel prices, food costs, and school fees.

Witnesses reported that police aggressively pursued the protesters, ultimately using tear gas to disperse the crowd. The situation escalated quickly, causing chaos as participants fled in various directions, creating significant disorder in the area.

Many protesters and bystanders were seen struggling to breathe after inhaling the tear gas, highlighting the violent response to the peaceful assembly. As of this report, police continue to patrol the city, searching for those involved in the protests.
