Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have gathered outside the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Edo State to protest alleged irregularities in the recent governorship election. They claim that the results released thus far do not accurately reflect the electorate’s choices.

One protester voiced their frustration, stating, “We turned out in large numbers to support Asue Ighodalo, but it seems INEC is trying to undermine our will.” Another demonstrator highlighted issues with the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal, claiming, “The system went down as soon as results began to be announced. The figures being reported do not match those on the IReV. INEC is pushing Nigerians to their limits, and that’s unacceptable.”

The election process has faced numerous controversies, with the PDP accusing the ruling party of electoral misconduct and using security forces to intimidate voters. The party has formally rejected the results, insisting they do not represent the true sentiments of the public.

As of the most recent updates, Monday Okpebholo, the candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), is leading based on the results from 16 local governments. INEC has announced it will resume the collation of results at 5 PM.
