The Ogun State High Court on Wednesday issued an order that limits the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests to four designated locations within the state.

The protests are restricted to the following locations:

  1. MKO Stadium, Abeokuta
  2. Ansar-ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota
  3. Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu
  4. Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode

The court also set specific time constraints for the protests, allowing them only between 8 am and 5 pm. This decision was made in response to an application by the State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade (SAN).

Justice Olugboyega Ogunfowora, who presided over the case, explained that these locations are spread across the four divisions of the state and cover the three senatorial districts, ensuring that protesters can participate under adequate protection and without infringing on the rights of non-protesting members of the public.

Additionally, the judge instructed the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State to enforce the order and ensure compliance with the specified locations and time frames. The order will remain in effect for seven days, from August 1 to August 10, 2024.

The court has set August 6, 2024, for the next hearing and has shortened the time for protesters to respond to the application to 72 hours.
