The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that he has not received a formal request to use Eagle Square for the planned #EndBadGovernance protest set to begin on August 1. Wike made this announcement on Saturday during a town hall meeting with key stakeholders in the FCT ahead of the protest.

Wike clarified that no official letter requesting the use of Eagle Square had been sent to his office. He emphasized that protesters should not rely solely on social media to communicate their intentions but should instead follow the proper channels for such requests. Wike had previously issued a warning against the protest, asserting that “FCT is not available for such protests” and urging residents to refrain from participating.

The town hall meeting on Saturday included various stakeholders such as the FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, political party representatives, and representatives from women and youth groups. The purpose of the meeting was to establish a communication channel between the FCT administration and residents, allowing them to express their grievances with the current leadership and discuss potential solutions.
