The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered an investigation into the tragic killing of three individuals and the injury of five others during a land transaction that took place on Monday, September 9. The incident occurred at Isionye land, a boundary between Enugwu-Ukwu and Nwafia.

Initial reports suggest that the victims were lured to the location through a phone call under the guise of a land deal. Once there, they were ambushed and attacked with both guns and machetes.

Confirming the attack, the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, urged calm while police operatives continue their investigation. He also revealed that the attackers abandoned a Sienna vehicle at the scene, which has been recovered by the police.

Ikenga added that the statements of the survivors, who are currently receiving treatment in the hospital, are providing valuable information for the ongoing investigation. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue.
