Two community health extension workers were kidnapped by bandits during an attack on a primary health centre in Kaduna on Monday. According to local sources, the armed group targeted the village and initially intended to attack a nearby government primary school. However, upon finding no pupils present, they shifted their focus to the healthcare facility, where they seized the two workers.
A community leader who spoke to Channels Television revealed that the bandits might have also abducted some patients who were receiving treatment at the time of the attack, though this has not been officially confirmed.
Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, explained that poor telecommunication coverage in the Birnin-Gwari area prevented residents from quickly notifying the police about the incident. Despite this challenge, he assured the public that a police team has been deployed and is actively pursuing the bandits in an effort to apprehend them and rescue the victims.
