A 25-year-old fisherman has died in a tragic crocodile attack while gathering his fishing nets. Brono Kamil Nahak, who was last seen heading toward the river for his usual work routine, never returned. Concerned about his absence, his colleagues launched a search for him that evening.
At the fishing spot in Kinabatangan, Malaysia, they discovered his T-shirt, shoes, cap, motorbike, and a torn net—alarming clues that something was wrong. Fearing he had been attacked by a crocodile, they immediately contacted the local fire department.
A search was quickly organized, and the young man’s body was later found less than a mile away, believed to have been dragged into the water by the predator.
Riki Mohan Singh Ramday, a spokesperson for the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, confirmed the details, saying: “Upon arrival, a search operation was conducted. The victim’s body was found by the team about one kilometre from where he was believed to have been attacked by the crocodile.” He also mentioned that the firefighting team had to travel nearly 50 miles to reach the remote site.
The fisherman’s body has been handed over to the authorities for further investigation into the exact cause of death.
