The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, emphasized that the military relies heavily on intelligence from the public, as it cannot be omnipresent. During a courtesy call on Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State on Monday, General Musa noted that the military are not magicians and that the recent bombings in Gwoza and Pulka towns of the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State were intended to embarrass the government.

General Musa assured that the perpetrators of these attacks would not succeed and called on Nigerians to recognize that securing the country is a shared responsibility. He stated, โ€œThe armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure peace and security in the country. The incidents in Gwoza clearly show that those who wish harm on the country are persistent, and we must continue to work hard.โ€

He continued, โ€œIt was a deliberate attempt to embarrass the government, but they will not succeed. Recently, we arrested individuals with IED equipment trying to blow up some installations. We will continue to work diligently. Our appeal to Nigerians is to remember that those perpetrating these evil acts live among us. If we report suspicious activities promptly, actions will be taken. Security forces cannot be everywhere and are not magicians; we rely on the intelligence provided by the people. Thus, the responsibility to secure Nigeria depends on all Nigerians working together with security agencies. We are committed to ensuring that this goal is achieved.โ€
