Kebbi State’s Governor, Nasir Ahmed Idris, has given the green light to disburse a substantial sum of N675 million as furniture allowance to be distributed among the chairpersons of the 21 local government areas within the state. This noteworthy decision was communicated through the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmed Idris, who issued an official statement on Thursday from Birnin Kebbi, the capital of the state.

The announcement drew from the insights of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mohammed Sani-Umar, who underscored that this allocation will be effective from 2022 to 2024.

As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the permanent secretary took the opportunity to express gratitude to Governor Idris for this gesture, applauding not only his endeavors in enhancing the quality of life but also his dedication to executing projects that tangibly impact the lives of the state’s residents.

Responding to this significant development, Aminu Ahmed, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), who also holds the position of Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, voiced appreciation on behalf of his fellow colleagues. He pledged that the allocation would encompass the furniture allowance for the local government council, councillors, and secretaries.

Ahmed commended the governor for his thoughtful and timely approval, characterizing it as a testament to astute leadership. He added that this long-awaited allowance had become a reality under the current administration, signifying a commitment to effective governance.

Concluding his response, Ahmed extended his prayers for Governor Idris, invoking the guidance of Almighty Allah and the bestowment of wisdom as he continues to navigate the responsibilities of leading the state with excellence.
