A check on the website of the Independent System Operator, an autonomous arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), revealed a significant decline in power plant contributions to the grid. Around 2pm, contributions began to drop to 2,797.16MW from an average of 3,417.99MW recorded at 1pm. The decline continued, reaching 1,020.08MW by 3pm and dramatically falling to 0.80MW by 4pm.

According to Daily Trust, the minimal 0.80MW generated at 4pm was produced by the Trans-Amadi Power Plant. This marks the fourth power grid collapse in 2024.

Further details will be provided as they become available.
