Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged President Bola Tinubu to swiftly address the grievances of Nigerians, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.
In a statewide broadcast on Sunday afternoon, Fintiri highlighted that it is insufficient for the President to merely acknowledge the cries of the people. He asserted that Nigerians should not have to wait indefinitely for necessary actions to be taken.
Addressing the #EndBadGovernance protest in Adamawa State, Fintiri commended the residents for maintaining peace during the demonstrations. He emphasized the importance of the Federal Government responding to the demands of the people. “The protest might be unpopular, especially due to the way it was conducted in some states, but the message is clear, and the demands are genuine. None of us can deny that there is hunger and general poverty,” Fintiri stated.
He further noted that government leaders must consistently listen and take action. “The lesson we must derive from the protest is the constant reminder that it is not enough to tell the citizens we have heard. We must be seen as doing the needful in providing solutions to citizens’ concerns,” Fintiri added.
According to the DAILY POST, after the initial busy days of protests on August 1 and 2, particularly in the state capital Yola, protests in Adamawa State have almost completely subsided. No incidents of violence have been reported in the state.
