A helicopter from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) crashed early Monday morning in Tami village, situated in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to an anonymous eyewitness, the incident occurred around 5:00 am, causing significant alarm among local residents.
The helicopter, which was on a routine operational flight, encountered technical issues leading to the crash. Despite the difficulties, the pilot successfully executed emergency protocols, ensuring his own survival. Witnesses reported that the pilot emerged from the wreckage with minimal injuries.
Local villagers quickly gathered at the crash site, offering assistance and expressing relief that there were no fatalities. “We heard a loud noise and rushed to the scene. We were surprised and relieved to see the pilot alive,” said one resident.
Military officers from the Nigerian Air Force soon arrived at the scene to secure the area and begin an initial investigation. They cordoned off the crash site to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the safety of the villagers. Preliminary assessments are ongoing, and the exact cause of the crash remains unknown.
As of this report, the Nigerian Air Force has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. Attempts to contact Wing Commander Alaere Eyinimiere Obidake, the Public Relations Officer for the Air Training Command, Nigerian Air Force, Kaduna, were unsuccessful.
