Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has dismissed the likelihood of protests in the Southwest against President Bola Tinubu.

He also suggested that states in the Southeast and Southsouth are unlikely to participate in any such protests.

In a Facebook post, Igbokwe emphasized that President Tinubu is not a failure and urged Nigerians to back him, citing his plans as beneficial for the country. He wrote, “This man has a great plan for Nigeria. All he needs from us is our unwavering support, trust, encouragement, and prayers. Do not expect any protests in the Southwest; PBAT is not a failure.”

He added that states in the Southsouth and Southeast might also refrain from joining protests and advised protestors to avoid Lagos due to the city’s clear stance.

This statement follows activist Omoyele Sowore’s call for a significant protest against the Nigerian government in August over national hardships. In response, the Nigerian government has introduced measures to address food insecurity, including a 150-Day Duty-Free Import Window for food commodities, as announced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari.
