Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur, has called for the resignation of Kimberly Cheatle, the Director of the United States Secret Service, following an assassination attempt on former president and Republican Party candidate, Donald Trump.
According to DAILY POST, two individuals lost their lives after shots were fired at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The former president, who was injured, was quickly escorted off the stage by security personnel, as reported by the Associated Press.
Although the Secret Service managed to neutralize the shooter, Musk criticized the agency’s leadership. He reacted to a BBC report where an eyewitness claimed he had alerted the police and Secret Service about a suspicious man with a rifle on a nearby roof, but his warning was ignored.
Musk expressed his frustration on social media, stating, “The head of the Secret Service and the leader of this security detail should resign.”
In a related development, DAILY POST earlier reported that Musk has endorsed Donald Trump for the upcoming presidential election, following the attack at his Pennsylvania rally. Musk extended his “full” support to Trump and wished him a speedy recovery.
