Tragedy struck the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) on Friday night, July 5th, 2024, when an unidentified dead body was found in a drainage system on the campus. The decomposing corpse, wrapped and dumped near the UNN stadium junction/Eni-Njoku Boys Hostel on the busy road leading to Behind Flat, was discovered by students returning from evening lectures.
The University’s security department quickly arrived at the scene, transported the body to the University Medical Centre morgue, and dispersed the large crowd that had gathered.
According to information from Myschoolnews, a female 100 Level Medical Laboratory student has been missing since Tuesday after a Chem 171 practical session. There is speculation that the body found might be that of the missing student, given its strong odor indicating it had been there for some time.
Investigators are looking into whether the body was dumped by unknown individuals or if it had remained unnoticed for a while. Photos and videos of the discovery have gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention.
