Residents of the Iludun community in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have raised concerns over increasing criminal activities along the railway corridor and near Iludun market, which have resulted in at least 10 deaths. They are urging the Lagos State government to address the escalating security issues in the area.
When Vanguard visited the community, residents reported a surge in crimes, including theft, assault, rape, and various attacks leading to fatalities. Many expressed fear for their safety, particularly when passing through the railway corridor in the evening or early morning.
Engr. Amos Adu, Chairman of the Iludun Board of Trustees (BoT), shared a personal ordeal, revealing that his phone was snatched at gunpoint. He said, “This area is very dangerous, especially at night.”
Another resident and BoT member, Mr. Oluremi Faotanmi, recounted a harrowing incident involving his daughter, who was attacked by hoodlums along the railway corridor. Fortunately, she managed to escape before being raped.
