The Abia State government has instructed civil and public servants to promptly upload their credentials online. This directive aims to benefit the employees and ensure proper documentation.

This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, during a press briefing in Umuahia following the latest state executive council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.

The directive has caused anxiety among some civil servants in the state since the exercise began.

Kanu reported that 36,875 academic certificates and 25,458 career documents have already been uploaded as part of the ongoing state government initiative. Additionally, 7,582 certificates have been sent to respective institutions for verification.

The Commissioner emphasized that many workers have complied with the directive to upload their credentials. He reassured that the government’s mandate is not intended to penalize civil servants, countering claims made by the Abia State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
