A source close to the family in Kahutu, who requested anonymity, informed Daily Trust that the abductors of the elderly woman initially demanded a ransom of N1 billion. The source revealed, “They contacted the family using a phone taken from a woman during the abduction. After a brief discussion with a family member, they lowered the demand to N900 million.”
The source added, “Initially, the abductors wanted to negotiate directly with Rarara himself, but due to his illness following his mother’s abduction, they agreed to deal with another family member. They assured the family that Hajiya is in good condition and would be released once the ransom is paid. The conversation was brief, and there has been no further contact, but negotiations are believed to be ongoing.”
Describing the abduction, the source said the operation was meticulously planned. “The bandits brought a photograph of Hajiya to ensure they kidnapped the right person. After gaining access to her bedroom, they woke all the women sleeping there and compared their faces to the photograph before taking Hajiya.”
