Residents in Sokoto State have continued to lament the untold hardship they are subjected to following the fuel scarcity being experienced in all parts of the state that has made businesses and other activities very difficult.

Commuters in the state have expressed frustration as most filling stations remain closed, citing a lack of fuel products, while black market vendors are selling petrol at exorbitant prices ranging from N2,000 to N2,500 per liter across the metropolis.

According to some residents who spoke with our correspondent, the government’s intervention is urgently needed to address the situation and prevent further deterioration. They highlighted how the fuel scarcity is negatively impacting business activities and making life increasingly challenging, especially with the scarcity of petrol at black market prices reaching N2,500 per liter.

In response to the fuel queues and scarcity, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) attributed the situation to “logistics issues,” particularly in Lagos, Abuja, and other states. However, the company assured the public that these issues have been resolved, emphasizing that there will be no changes in petroleum product prices.

NNPCL urged Nigerians to refrain from panic buying, reassuring them that there is an adequate supply of petroleum products in the country. This statement aims to allay concerns and encourage consumers to avoid hoarding fuel, thereby stabilizing the market and ensuring sufficient availability for all.
