Approximately 30 travelers, including students from the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, were reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers on the Abuja-Nasarawa Highway on Friday, June 7. The travelers were attacked as their vehicles passed through the Uke area of Nasarawa State, where the kidnappers had been hiding in a nearby bush.
One of the bus drivers managed to escape the attack and alerted the local police to the incident. A source told Punch, “Thirty people were kidnapped between Nasarawa and Abuja on Friday. The passengers were taken from two buses and led into the bush around a place called Uke in Nasarawa State.”
Among those abducted is an HND student from the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa who was traveling back to Abuja to reunite with her family.
The escaping driver returned to his vehicle after fleeing the scene, collected some belongings, including a phone belonging to one of the kidnapped victims, and reported the situation to the police station in Uke.
