FCCPC officials took action by closing down the supermarket after conducting an inspection of the premises on Monday. Following an interrogation of Nigerian employees, the commission’s representatives sealed off the establishment.
The discriminatory policy implemented by the Chinese Supermarket, which limited entry solely to Chinese citizens while barring Nigerians, sparked outrage among Nigerians on Sunday.
Shaibu Sanusi, the facility manager, acknowledged that Nigerians from outside the complex were not permitted to shop there, but those already inside were allowed access.
Despite the closure of the supermarket, there are suspicions within the consumer protection agency that some individuals may be hiding inside to avoid encountering the authorities.
