The Lagos State Police Command has detained an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Omotayo Olajide, following a shooting incident that killed a young girl and injured another during a police operation to quell a violent clash between rival groups in Ajegunle, Lagos State.

The deceased, identified as Omole Taiwo, was reportedly hit by a bullet fired by the police officer during the operation in the Nosamu area of Ajegunle on Thursday night, November 5, 2026.
