The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) branch, Ogbomoso, has declared a total and indefinite strike over the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government–ASUU agreement and the failure to pay outstanding staff entitlements.
The industrial action takes effect from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, following the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the university management without a resolution of the outstanding issues.
In a statement dated October 29 and signed by the branch chairperson, Prof. Olujimi Dada, and the secretary, Dr Soji Arinola, the union disclosed that the decision to embark on the strike was reached at an emergency congress held on Wednesday, October 28.
The union described the industrial action as “total, comprehensive and indefinite,” signalling an escalation of its dispute with the university management over the unresolved demands.
According to the statement, the strike became necessary after the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum without the implementation of the issues raised by the union.
Among the key concerns cited by ASUU are the non-implementation of the 2025 agreement between the Federal Government and the union, as well as the payment of outstanding staff entitlements.
The declaration marks a fresh development in the dispute between the university’s academic staff union and the management, with the industrial action set to continue indefinitely until the issues prompting the strike are addressed.
The union’s decision underscores its dissatisfaction with the handling of the outstanding matters and its resolve to press for the implementation of the agreement and the settlement of staff entitlements.
