Former Imo State Governor and ex-Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha, has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

Okorocha was reportedly taken into custody on Monday night, October 12, 2026, at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja by police operatives, according to security sources cited by SaharaReporters.

The arrest reportedly followed his alleged failure to honour repeated invitations from the police to appear for questioning at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Security sources said the police had extended several invitations to the former governor as part of an investigation into the allegations but claimed that he repeatedly failed to appear for interrogation as requested.

According to the sources, the police hierarchy subsequently obtained a bench warrant from a court to compel Okorocha’s appearance after he allegedly failed to honour the scheduled appointments.

The sources disclosed that the initial invitation for questioning was scheduled for September 2, 2026, but was postponed to September 8 following a request from his legal team.

“An initial invitation for questioning was slated for September 2, 2026. However, at the request of his legal team, the appointment was rescheduled to September 8, 2026,” a security source said.

The source further alleged that Okorocha failed to appear on the rescheduled date despite the extension granted by investigators.

The alleged failure to honour the invitation reportedly prompted law enforcement authorities to track him down and execute the judicial order, culminating in his arrest at the Abuja hotel.

As of the time of filing this report, Okorocha was said to remain in police custody while investigations into the allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation continued.

However, details of the specific acts allegedly constituting the offences were not provided in the information available at the time of publication.

Efforts to reach Okorocha’s media office for comments on the reported arrest and allegations against him were unsuccessful.

The allegations remain unproven, and the former governor’s arrest does not in itself establish criminal liability.
