In court documents obtained by Daily Trust, the judge issued an order restraining the first through fifth defendants, as well as their servants and associates, from parading themselves as the Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye pending the hearing and determination of the motion filed by the applicants.

The order also directed the Commissioner of Police in Kano State to immediately take over the Emir of Kano’s palace on State Road, Kano, and evict the first defendant from the premises until the motion’s hearing and determination, dated May 24, 2024.

The court granted another order restraining the defendants from parading themselves as the Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye to maintain peace in Kano pending the hearing and determination of the motion.

Additionally, an order was made for the fifteenth defendants to be served through the office of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, who is responsible for ensuring the court order’s immediate implementation in the interest of justice.

The respondents in this case include the deposed Emirs of Karaye, Gaya, Bichi, Rano, and Kano, as well as the IGP, Director of DSS, NSCDC, and the Army. The applicants are the Attorney General of Kano State, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, and the Kano State House of Assembly.

Daily Trust reported that the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isah Dederi, informed the BBC that the state government received an earlier order from a Federal High Court stopping the Emir’s reinstatement after action had been completed on Monday.
