A political disagreement in Gwagwalada Area Council has escalated after a resident and political supporter, Mr. Usman “Zeeblack” Idah, alleged that his life is under threat following a confrontation with the Councilor representing Kutunku Ward, Hon. Ismaila Ola.
The allegations were made in a series of Facebook posts by Zeeblack and corroborated in part by an eyewitness account made available to Chronicles Reporters. Hon. Ismaila Ola has not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
According to the eyewitness account, the incident occurred during the celebration marking the inauguration of the Gwagwalada Area Council Secretary at New Kutunku Primary School.
The report stated that Hon. Ola and Zeeblack, who reportedly served as a PDP polling unit agent during the last Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship election, met at the event after months of political disagreements.
The disagreement between the two allegedly began during the election period after Zeeblack declined to support Hon. Ola and the APC chairmanship candidate, Mr. Usman Yahaya. Instead, he reportedly supported the eventual chairman, Hon. Mohammed Kasim, and the Indigenous Mandate political movement.
The eyewitness further claimed that Zeeblack had alerted security personnel during the election to alleged vote-buying involving APC supporters, a development said to have further strained their relationship.
According to the account, Hon. Ola greeted other individuals seated near Zeeblack but allegedly refused to shake his hand. Zeeblack was said to have later approached the councilor in an attempt to reconcile, urging him to leave the election behind and support the current administration of Hon. Mohammed Kasim.
However, the eyewitness alleged that Hon. Ola rejected the reconciliation, stating that he could not work with individuals who did not support him during the election and would not reconcile with those he considered to have worked against his electoral mandate.
The eyewitness also alleged that the exchange became heated, during which Hon. Ola openly threatened to have Zeeblack beaten and later threatened to kill him. The alleged remarks were said to have been heard by several people present, including members of the local vigilante group and other attendees.
Following the incident, Zeeblack reportedly lodged a formal complaint with the police and made a statement expressing fears for his safety.
In a lengthy Facebook post published after the encounter, Zeeblack accused the councilor of targeting him because of political differences. He stated that he had actively supported Hon. Mohammed Kasim’s chairmanship campaign both politically and financially and maintained that his loyalty was based on his belief in Kasim’s leadership rather than any expectation of political appointments or financial gain.
The social media posts also contained emotional statements in which Zeeblack appealed to his family, friends, legal representatives, and law enforcement authorities to hold Hon. Ola responsible should anything happen to him. The posts included several personal accusations and inflammatory remarks that Chronicles Reporters has chosen not to reproduce because they remain unverified.
As of the time of publication, there is no indication that Hon. Ismaila Ola has been charged with any criminal offence in relation to the allegations. The claims remain allegations and are expected to be subject to police investigation.
