A survivor of a recent bandit attack on a community in Niger State has recounted harrowing details of captivity, including how a pregnant woman among the abducted victims reportedly went into labour while still in the hands of the gunmen.

According to accounts from survivors who managed to escape or were later released, the victims were taken during a violent raid on the community, where armed assailants stormed homes, displacing residents and abducting several people into surrounding forest areas.

The survivor described days of uncertainty, movement through rough terrain, and worsening conditions in captivity, where access to food, medical care, and basic safety was severely limited. It was under these conditions that the pregnant victim began labour, with fellow captives said to have been left helpless in responding to her distress.

Local sources say the incident has further deepened fear in affected communities, where repeated attacks have forced many families to flee or live in constant anxiety over potential raids.

Security authorities have not yet released full details on rescue operations or the condition of all abducted persons, but efforts to track and dismantle armed groups operating in the region are said to be ongoing.

The incident adds to a growing list of violent attacks in parts of northern Nigeria, raising renewed concerns over civilian safety in rural communities often targeted by armed groups.
