Mozambique has accused a fresh wave of anti-immigrant violence in South Africa of claiming the lives of five of its citizens, although South African police have so far confirmed only two deaths.

The violence reportedly erupted in the Alsa Park area of Mossel Bay, where protests against undocumented migrants spiraled into chaos, leaving homes torched, families displaced, and communities shattered.

According to Mozambican authorities, more than 800 of their nationals have been affected by the unrest. While nearly 300 people have already returned home on their own, over 500 others remain in temporary shelters as repatriation efforts intensify.

The attacks have reignited concerns over the safety of foreign nationals living in South Africa and drawn criticism across the region. Human rights advocates and neighboring governments are calling for urgent action to protect vulnerable migrant communities and prevent further bloodshed.

As tensions remain high, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the deadly consequences of xenophobia and the urgent need for unity, tolerance, and the protection of human dignity.
