The Nigerian Army has discharged soldier Abdullahi Ismail following his conviction for engaging in sexual relations with a colleague’s spouse, as reported by SaharaReporters.

According to multiple sources, Lance Corporal Ismail faced dismissal at the 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State, during the week.

“Abdullahi was expelled from the Nigerian Army due to his involvement with a fellow soldier’s wife. This action serves as a deterrent to others engaging in such behavior, which has become prevalent in our barracks,” one source commented.

Another source lamented, “Our colleague Abdullahi has been dismissed from the 231 BN Biu for sleeping with his colleague’s wife. It’s regrettable.”

The sources revealed that Ismail had a history of sexual misconduct, leading to his dismissal by the army authorities.

His transgression, deemed indecent professional misconduct and adultery with a fellow soldier’s spouse, violates Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, warranting imprisonment and dishonorable discharge from service.

This development follows the recent dismissal of two soldiers by the Nigerian Army for theft of armoured cables from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos. SaharaReporters previously disclosed that the soldiers were apprehended at the refinery with 897 armoured cables already prepared for theft and subsequently detained in Lagos on April 14.
