One Idi Adamu, aged 30, has been apprehended by the Nigerian police for allegedly assaulting his one-year-old step-daughter in Adamawa State.
Adamu, who works as a barber, purportedly committed the act on April 30, 2024, at his residence in Wuro-Ardo, located in the Mubi North Local Government Area, according to a police report.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed the incident to our reporters on Saturday.
Nguroje stated, “The mother entrusted the child’s care to the father while she went to pick up some items at a shopping mall. Upon her return, she found the child bleeding; she immediately took her to a hospital where a case of sexual assault was confirmed.
“She subsequently reported the incident to the police, leading to his arrest. Investigations are ongoing, and upon completion, he will be charged to court to face the consequences of his actions.”
