Hon. Ibrahim Gajere, former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State, has been confirmed dead following a violent attack by suspected bandits on a burial convoy in Dogon Noma community, Maro Ward. The incident occurred on Monday, February 16, 2026, as vehicles returned from a funeral.
Witnesses told The Sun that assailants set ablaze the former chairman’s official car along with three other vehicles, leaving passengers stranded and several individuals unaccounted for. Community members immediately launched a search for the victims amid growing fear.
According to source on Wednesday afternoon confirmed that Gajere’s body had been recovered from the surrounding bush, noting that he sustained bullet wounds during the attack. Villagers described the discovery as heart-wrenching and mourned the loss of the local leader.
The attack has sent shockwaves through Kajuru and neighbouring communities, with residents expressing deep concern for their safety. Another assault in the area on the same day reportedly left two people dead, compounding fears of continued bandit activity.
