We, the African Action Congress FCT Chapter are compelled to express our outrage and disgust at the monstrous statements made by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, threatening to block or work against victory of candidates working against President TINUBU and APC in the FCT area council elections. This is a blatant attempt to intimidate and coerce the electorate, and a stark reminder of the depths to which those in power will sink to maintain their grip on power.

We strongly condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the FCT Minister’s actions and statements, which are a clear manifestation of thuggery and a total disregard for the rule of law and democratic principles. His comments are a call to violence and intimidation, and are a stark reminder of the rot in our system.

We question the confidence with which Minister Wike makes such statements, and we wonder if he has received assurances from the leadership of INEC that they will work with him to rig the elections or otherwise. If INEC is not complicit in this plot, how does Minister Wike feel emboldened to make such brazen threats with out any body from the INEC uprightly rejecting them in public? We call on INEC to be extremely worried that statements like this are coming from a government appointee who has every access to the INEC authorities. This is a clear indication that the FCT Minister is working with some compromised INEC officials and security personnels to rig the elections, and we demand that INEC comes clean on this matter. All eyes must be on board to check every details of this elections.

We serve notice to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the FCT Minister Wike that any attempt to impose their will on the people of FCT will be met with fierce resistance. The people of FCT are not mere pawns to be manipulated, but citizens with inherent rights that must be respected. We will not stand so dumb while the FCT Minister and his cohorts attempt to hijack the democratic process in FCT, Rivers and Nigeria at large.

We demand that the security agencies take immediate action to prevent any form of violence or intimidation in the FCT. The FCT Minister should held accountable for his actions and statements, and the rule of law must be upheld. We call on the DSS, Police, and other security agencies to arrest Minister Wike with immediate effect, and to ensure that the FCT elections are conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.

We warn the President that his association with Minister Wike is a recipe for disaster, and that his failure to condemn these statements is a clear indication of his own complicity in this plot to undermine democracy in 2027. We urge him to take immediate action to distance himself from Minister Wike and to ensure that the FCT elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

To the people of FCT, we say: do not be intimidated, do not be cajoled, and do not be swayed. Your votes must count, and you must ensure that your voices are heard. We are with you, and we will defend your rights.

We will not be silenced, and we will not be intimidated. The people of FCT will rise up and defend their rights, and we will not be deterred. We must resist all plans to rig the elections, and we must be ready for any illegal actions that may be taken by the FCT Minister and his cohorts.

Signed

AGENA ROBERT ANDE
Chairman, AAC FCT chapter.
