The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the rotation of its Voter Enrolment Devices (IVED) across all 203 Registration Areas in Ondo State as part of efforts to expand access to voter registration. The approval was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Akure by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola.
According to Babalola, the rotation will take place during the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which began on January 5, 2026. The IVED rotation is scheduled to run for 50 days, from February 2 to April 10, 2026, excluding weekends and public holidays, and will cover all 18 local government areas of the state.
The REC explained that the initiative is aimed at addressing challenges such as long travel distances, difficult terrain, and limited access to registration centres, especially in remote communities. She added that a detailed rotation schedule has been prepared to ensure fairness and effective coverage, with copies available at all INEC local government offices in the state.
Providing an update on the first phase of the CVR held between August 25 and December 10, 2025, Babalola said 35,040 registration activities were recorded, including fresh registrations, transfers, corrections, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). She urged eligible voters, particularly those in underserved areas, to take advantage of the IVED rotation and directed members of the public to contact INEC local offices or designated help lines for further information.
