Stanley_Ontop, a well-known film producer and human rights activist, has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Asaba following a social-media altercation with Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbert.
The dispute began as an online banter that quickly escalated into a heated confrontation. According to sources familiar with the matter, Hilbert had publicly referred to Stanley_Ontop as gay during their exchange. The activist, known for his outspoken views, responded online a move that allegedly prompted the actress to threaten to “deal with him.”
Today, that threat appears to have materialised.
Stanley_Ontop was picked up by operatives of the Nigeria Police and is currently being held at SCID Asaba. Details surrounding the specific allegations filed against him remain unclear, but supporters say the arrest reflects an ongoing pattern in which celebrities use state security apparatus to settle personal scores.
Human rights observers are already questioning the basis of the arrest and calling for a transparent process. Colleagues in the film industry have also expressed concern, describing the development as an attempt to intimidate a voice known for challenging injustice and abuse of power.
