Doyin Okupe, a well-known Nigerian political figure and former presidential spokesperson, has sadly passed away. His death, which occurred overnight in Lagos, was confirmed by ARISE NEWS on Friday. He reportedly succumbed to complications from a recurrence of cancer.

Okupe gained significant public recognition as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s presidential campaign. However, his time in that position was cut short following a conviction for money laundering, which led to his resignation.

After the 2023 general elections, Okupe distanced himself from the Labour Party and shifted his political allegiance, emerging as a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Beyond these more recent roles, Okupe had a long history in Nigerian politics. He previously served as a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, playing a crucial role in government affairs during that administration.
