The State Security Service (SSS) has announced the dismissal of 115 of its personnel and cautioned the public against having any form of official engagement with them.
The agency made this known in a statement released on Tuesday, 4 November, and published on its official website.
According to the SSS, the action follows previous reports of misconduct involving some dismissed officers who continued to parade themselves as active personnel to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
In October, the Service raised alarm over two former officers, Barry Donald and Victor Godwin ,who were allegedly involved in “fraudulent activities” after their dismissal. The SSS confirmed that both individuals have now been arrested and will be prosecuted.
“The public is hereby notified that these culprits have been apprehended and will face prosecution in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
The Service also vowed to publish the names of more dismissed officers in order to prevent citizens from falling victim to criminal acts perpetrated in the name of the agency.
As part of the 4 November announcement, the SSS released the mugshots of some of the affected officers, including both male and female personnel.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the statement added.
