
Ibrahim Yahaya, a transport worker, allegedly stabbed his colleague, Kabiru Abdullahi, to death after a dispute at the Kanuri Motor Park in Lagos State’s Ebute Metta area.
PUNCH Metro learned that Yahaya and Kabiru were at the park when they got into a dispute.
The quarrel was reported to have devolved into a brawl, during which Kabiru allegedly stabbed Yahaya in the head with a knife.
Yahaya fled the site after the attack and sought medical attention on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Following his treatment, Yahaya entered the park the next day and allegedly stabbed Kabiru in the neck with a knife.
In an attempt to save Kabiru, our correspondent learned that some witnesses to the incident at the park hurried him to the Ebute General Hospital for treatment, but he died on the way.
Kabiru’s body was reportedly dumped in the Infectious Disease Hospital morgue in Yaba.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, verified the event and stated the offender had been detained.
“On February 16, 2023, around 3.15 pm, the police received information that on February 15, around 8.30pm, one Kabiru Abdullahi of Otto Market, Oyingbo, allegedly attacked one Ibrahim Yahaya of Kanuri Motor Park on the head with a knife following an incident between them,” he stated.
“However, the next day, February 16, 2023, around 2.30pm, the alleged Ibrahim Yahaya, retaliated by stabbing Kabiru in his neck and the victim incurred significant injury. He was rescued and taken to Ebute Metta General Hospital, where he died.”
Hundeyin stated that Yahaya had been arrested and that the inquiry was still proceeding.
