A Nigerian man, identified by his X handle @deyoppressed, has raised serious allegations against officers of the Nigeria Police Force, accusing them of abducting his younger brother in Abuja and extorting ₦300,000 before releasing him.
In multiple posts shared on Sunday, the man described the officers as “criminals in uniform” and appealed to police authorities to address the matter. He directly tagged the official Nigeria Police account (@PoliceNG) as well as the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi (@Princemoye1), urging immediate action.
“The Nigerian police are kidnappers and criminals in uniform. They abducted my kid brother today from his school, extorted ₦300,000, and abandoned him in the middle of nowhere in Abuja,” the post read.
According to the accuser, the officers initially demanded a ransom of ₦2 million. However, after he was unable to raise the full amount, they agreed to settle for ₦300,000. The payment, he claimed, was made through a roadside Point of Sale (POS) agent.
He also alleged that nothing incriminating was found on his brother’s phone, yet the officers persisted with the extortion. “They wouldn’t reveal their location despite repeated pleas when they contacted me. I asked them to take him to any station and give me the address, but they declined,” he wrote.
He further claimed the officers threatened to kill his brother and dispose of his body or frame him with illegal items such as drugs or firearms if the payment wasn’t made. “They said if I didn’t comply, I would bury my brother next week.”
The user added that the officers acted more like a kidnapping ring than a law enforcement agency. He stated, “The @PoliceNG is a crime institution. They’re not protecting citizens; they extort and threaten to kill. If you don’t pay, they’ll frame you or end your life.”
He continued, “The police are not our friends. They’re official kidnappers in black uniforms. Their conduct is proof that they operate without conscience.”
According to him, the entire ordeal ruined his day, as the officers’ refusal to follow due process heightened the trauma. “I begged them to take him to any station in Abuja. They outright refused. They made it clear—pay or face tragedy.”
He ended with a warning to Nigerians: “When you see a police checkpoint, be afraid for your life.”
At the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force and its spokesperson had not issued any official response to the allegations.
Incidents of extortion by members of the Nigerian police have become increasingly common, with citizens repeatedly reporting cases of coercion and unlawful financial demands.
Despite numerous public pledges by police authorities to address these violations, cases of harassment and extortion continue to surface.

That particular event reportedly took place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, around 9 p.m., as the siblings—Allwell Amaobi and Chinonso Amaobi—were returning from their mother’s 52nd birthday celebration in Etche Local Government Area.
In an interview with Chronicles Reporters, Chinonso, a businessman, described how the officers harassed and extorted them in what he called a deeply traumatic encounter.
