The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has slammed a three-count charge against Ezekiel Onyedikachuwu Thankgod, widely recognized in gospel music circles as EeZee Global, for allegedly misappropriating $443,371. The funds reportedly belong to popular gospel singers Mercy Chinwo and Judith Kanayo, also known as Judikay.
Thankgod, who previously managed Chinwo and served as the head of EeZee Global Concepts Limited, is facing trial alongside his company. The charges are being heard at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos. The case, registered as ID/25810c/25, was filed by EFCC counsels Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), Bilikisu Buhari-Bala, and Sulaiman I. Sulaiman.
The EFCC accuses Thankgod of fraudulently converting large sums of money for personal use in 2023. According to court documents, the specific amounts include $112,985, $260,494, and $69,892 — all allegedly owned by Chinwo and Kanayo.
The charges levelled against the defendant are in violation of Sections 280(1)(a) and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2011. As of now, the court has yet to announce a date for his arraignment.
Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding EeZee Conceptz took another turn recently when Nancy Nnadi — also known as Coach Nancy and the current Managing Director of EeZee Conceptz Limited — publicly withdrew her previous accusations against Mercy Chinwo.
Coach Nancy had earlier made damaging claims via social media, suggesting that Chinwo had diverted funds related to an unresolved contractual disagreement with EeZee Conceptz and its founder, Ezekiel Onyedikachuwu (EeZee Tee). These allegations triggered a legal response from Chinwo.
Represented by Law Corridor, with Pelumi Olajengbesi as the lead partner, Chinwo filed a defamation lawsuit at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja. Her legal team demanded a retraction of the statements, removal of the defamatory posts, and compensation for the damage to her reputation.
On Sunday, Coach Nancy released a public statement where she officially recanted her allegations, bringing a fresh twist to the ongoing saga within the gospel music industry.
