Yomi Adetula, the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling for the Social Orientation and Safety (So-Safe) Corps in Ogun State, has been killed by suspected assassins in Idi-Iroko, located in the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
According to multiple residents of Idi-Iroko, Adetula was in his church situated off Old Baggage Road when armed men, also wielding other dangerous weapons, stormed the premises shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday and attacked him.
“They initially shot at him, but the bullets did not penetrate,” a resident told FIJ.”They then resorted to using other weapons, including a hammer and machete, to inflict fatal injuries on him.
From their manner of operation, it was evident they were hired assassins.” FIJ obtained gruesome photos of Adetula’s corpse, showing a disfigured face and a blood-soaked torso, apparently from gunshot wounds.
Adetula was listed as a witness by FIJ in its defence against a libel lawsuit filed by IBD Dende. The lawsuit arose from FIJ’s undercover investigation, a subsequent documentary on Smuggling, and tweets
