The Federal Capital Territory Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has released the certified true copy of its decision to remand Pastor Abraham Daniel, along with Enenche Idoga Alexander and Oboyinlo Enenche Peter, in custody. The case, which stems from allegations linked to Dunamis Church, has drawn significant public attention.

In its ruling, the court ordered the Nigeria Police to produce the respondents on January 30, 2025, stating, “The matter is adjourned to the 30th day of January, 2025.”

Background on Pastor Daniel’s Case

According to a source close to the situation, Pastor Abraham Daniel’s legal troubles began after he resigned from Dunamis Church, where he had served for over a decade. His contributions reportedly played a pivotal role in the church’s rapid growth during his tenure.

The source revealed that his resignation, due to a disagreement with Pastor Paul Enenche, was not taken lightly. “Pastor Enenche opposed his resignation and tried to persuade him to return, even causing strain within his family. This ultimately led to a divorce as Daniel’s wife insisted he go back to the church,” the source stated.

Alleged Threats and Arrest

After leaving the church, Pastor Daniel reportedly began receiving threats via calls and social media messages. On one occasion, these threats coincided with a car accident that left his vehicle beyond repair. Following the accident, Daniel was approached by men in plain clothes, accompanied by a lawyer named Barr. Abbass. The men allegedly negotiated with the other party involved in the accident and later took Daniel into custody.

The source claimed Daniel later discovered that the men were police officers acting on the instructions of Pastor Enenche. He was initially detained at Karu Police Station, where the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) advised him to apologize to Pastor Enenche. Attempts to contact the pastor were unsuccessful, and Daniel was subsequently transferred to Kubwa Police Division.

Alleged “Gentleman Agreement”

The source further disclosed that Daniel was pressured to delete his Facebook page as part of an informal agreement to resolve the issue. In exchange, his damaged car was to be replaced. Daniel complied but was allegedly given only ₦200,000, which he described as a breach of their agreement.

Further Allegations

On January 3, 2025, the Force Intelligence Department (FID) summoned Daniel for questioning regarding allegations of cyber-bullying, criminal defamation, and inciting public nuisance. He was reportedly shown WhatsApp chats that included calls for better living conditions for a family member of Pastor Enenche and posts questioning the appropriateness of tattoos on Deborah Enenche, the pastor’s daughter.

Although Daniel confirmed the accuracy of the posts, he denied any malicious intent. He was asked to delete all related posts and apologize to Pastor Enenche. Despite complying, he was detained again when he honored a police invitation on January 13, 2025.

The case has sparked widespread discussions about the church, its leadership, and the alleged misuse of law enforcement to settle personal disputes.
