The family of Salome Eleojo Adaidu, allegedly murdered and dismembered by self-acclaimed gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, has accused the Nigerian police of covering up the case.

Speaking to Chronicles Reporters on Tuesday, Patience Adaidu, the deceased’s elder sister, voiced her frustration over the lack of communication from the investigating officer, ASP S. Danjuma.

She explained that the Orozo Police Station in the New Karshi Division, Abuja, where the case was initially reported, has failed to provide updates on the investigation. Patience also revealed that the case might be transferred to Keffi, Nasarawa State, despite the crime occurring in Abuja.

“The officers at Orozo Police Station are withholding information,” she said, adding that her family has been left in the dark. She denied online rumors that her sister was romantically involved with Ajayi, stressing that the family had never heard of or met the suspect.

Family Seeks Justice

Patience recounted the events leading to Salome’s death, stating that her sister left home on a Saturday to visit a friend named Maxwell. By Sunday, she received a call claiming Salome had been in an accident in Uke. However, upon arrival, the family discovered it was not an accident but a gruesome murder.

“She was brutally killed and dismembered. Her body parts were cut into pieces, including her head, hands, legs, and toes. The sight was horrifying,” Patience narrated.

According to her, the suspect was apprehended when a motorcyclist carrying him noticed blood dripping from the sack he was holding. Upon inspection, the sack was found to contain Salome’s severed head.

“The motorcyclist raised the alarm, and a crowd gathered. The suspect reportedly offered N100 million to the police, but the officers declined,” she said.

Patience lamented that the family has been excluded from the investigation. “I’ve not been allowed to see or question the suspect. The police are withholding crucial details, and we’ve heard from outsiders that some body parts were buried elsewhere without informing us.”

Demands for Transparency

The family is demanding a thorough investigation and justice for Salome. “We want the case returned to Abuja for proper handling. The suspect must be interrogated, and we need to know what happened to my sister,” Patience urged.

She added that Salome was not one to make random friends, and her family is still in shock over the incident. “None of us, including our firstborn and lastborn, have ever seen or heard of this man before.”

Background

Previously, Chronicles Reporters reported that the shocking incident occurred in Orozo, Abuja. Timileyin Ajayi was caught during a church service with a sack containing Salome’s severed head.

A church member, Umaru Caleb, shared on Facebook that the suspect was intercepted by a congregant who felt compelled to check the contents of his sack. The discovery of the severed head prompted a mob to apprehend Ajayi, who admitted to killing and dismembering the victim.

In a video obtained by Chronicles Reporters, Ajayi claimed that a heated argument with Salome led to her death. He alleged that she grabbed a knife during the altercation, and in trying to disarm her, he fatally stabbed her. He then dismembered her body to dispose of it.

The family of Salome is now pleading for transparency and justice, emphasizing that the case must be handled with urgency and fairness.
