The Take It Back Movement, a prominent non-profit organization focused on promoting social justice and empowering marginalized communities, has officially launched its Legal Aid Committee. The committee, which has already taken on 11 cases, is providing vital legal assistance to individuals facing challenges within the justice system. Juwon SanyaOlu, the National Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement, shared this development in a statement on Thursday.

SanyaOlu explained that the Committee was established in response to an urgent need. He recalled that the Convener of the movement had visited the Ogba Magistrate Court to secure the release of Sea King. During this visit, the Convener carried out two significant interventions, ensuring the withdrawal of charges against two young men who had been victims of a failing justice system.

While waiting for Sea King’s bail to be finalized, the Convener spoke with over 30 inmates who were awaiting trial. Many of these inmates shared their frustrations about their prolonged detentions, prompting the Convener to recognize the urgent need for additional support and resources for incarcerated individuals.

These early successes, including the Committee’s visit to Kirikiri, highlight the critical demand for accessible legal services. The committee aims to provide legal aid, advocacy, and support for underprivileged Nigerians, raising awareness about issues that affect their rights.

The Legal Aid Committee is composed of a dedicated team of volunteer lawyers, activists, and community members. Together, they offer pro bono legal services to individuals in need, with a strong focus on criminal justice reform.

The Take It Back Movement emphasized that it will continue to fight for justice and ensure that every individual has access to the legal support they deserve.
