Kachalla Dogo Isah, a notorious bandit leader known for orchestrating numerous violent attacks in Kaduna State, has reportedly been killed in a deadly clash with a rival faction of repentant bandits.
The confrontation occurred on January 7, 2025, in Kachia Forest, when Dogo Isah and his gang attempted to rustle cattle from a camp led by Kachalla Musa, a former bandit who had embraced a peace initiative.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the news via his X handle, the altercation quickly escalated, resulting in the deaths of Dogo Isah and two of his gang members.
Dogo Isah was infamous for terrorizing communities in Kachia and Kajuru local government areas. He was also a cousin to Tukur Sharme, another prominent bandit leader who met a similar fate in September 2024 during an internal clash.
The rival faction, led by Kachalla Musa, had recently agreed to a peace initiative facilitated by Kaduna State authorities and security agencies. The program, supported by local stakeholders, encourages former bandits to surrender and abandon violent activities.
Despite the government’s outreach, Dogo Isah rejected the peace offer and continued his criminal operations, which included cattle rustling, violent attacks, and high-profile killings. His gang was linked to several atrocities, including the killing of members of the 305 Artillery Demo Regiment in Kagarko LGA and an ambush on Navy personnel in Kujama on January 5, 2025, where two officers were killed, and their rifles stolen.
While Dogo Isah’s death is considered a significant victory in the fight against banditry, concerns have arisen about potential retaliation from his loyalists and the stability of Kachalla Musa’s recently repentant group.
